ALL VARIETY CANARY SHOW REPORT.
By David Allen.
The All Variety Canary Show was held of the 6th of January at Sacrewell Farm & Country Centre near Peterborough, there was nearly 2000 canaries on display. Their was also several trade stand cantering for all the fanciers needs from seed, breeding equipment to cages and books, making it an ideal show to get all your supplies for the forth coming breeding season. There was also a clubs row section with a number of clubs with information about there breeds. I had a club table for the Lizard canary association with my own display of information on Lizards, and had a number of people interested in them. I also put a small display on for the Lancashire Canary as well.
Also in attends was Cage & Aviary Birds including the new Editor Kim Forrester.
Making this the best bird show since we lost the National, with most of the top exhibitors across the UK exhibiting. This is great to see for the hobby and shows that the hobby is here to stay.
A number of
South Bucks members showed at the show with some very good results, including our chairman Brian Hogg who won best Old variety with a Dutch frill [picture below] he also won best Lancashire in a keenly contested Old Variety section with 76 exhibits.
Our show manager Saviour Camilleri won second best Norwich.
But the best performance of the day from a South Bucks member has to go to Peter Westbrook who entered 10 Fifes and got all of them in the top 6 including one first and two thirds in a section with nearly 400 Fifes so well done Pete.
Congratulations must go to the organizers Malcolm Plumb , Stuart Fox and their hard working and dedicated team.
I myself can’t wait for the 2009 AVC show.
